What is Hardline?
Hardline is an illustrative rendering style for real-time 3D worlds. It transforms scenes into
something that feels hand-drawn, graphic, and intentional — more like a painted environment or a
comic panel than a physically lit simulation.
Shapes stay readable, colors remain bold, and shadows become part of the artwork instead of a
side-effect of math. Whether bright and playful or moody and dramatic, Hardline gives your world
a strong visual identity that stays consistent from every angle.

The Shaders.
Hardline’s shaders are designed for illustration, not realism. Surfaces are built
from bold base colors, accent tones, and stylized shadowing instead of physical
lighting models.
You can create soft painterly gradients, sharp cel-shaded bands, or graphic inked
looks while still letting every material react to the same environment. Characters
stay readable, effects glow through darkness, and worlds remain cohesive and
expressive from every camera angle.
The System.
Summon Style: Hardline provides a fully featured style system for
flat-gradient
cel-shaded, comic-esque worlds.
This style is not supported in Unity out-the-box, unlit works to avoid dynamic
lighting from lit,
but cuts out shadows and environment light.
Hardline provides a
platform to support the mid-ground, flat, controlled colors, with shadow and
environment support. We offer both the shaders for the style, and a centralized
system to power those shaders.
